Each November, the area's best local and regional musicians along with some nationally recognized artists gather for the Highland Jazz and Blues Festival. Known as Shreveport's "party in the park," there's a whole lot more than just the incredible music. You'll see unique jewelry, home décor, and other one-of-a-kind items for sale by participating artisans. Two stages feature rotating musical acts, and the five hours of live music and fun are absolutely free!

The Strand Theatre prides itself in consistently staging unforgettable, crowd-pleasing entertainment. It is a portal to the future of film making in Shreveport, with special programs designed to create interest and awareness in the art of movie making and all that goes into their production and marketing. Various summer camps, lectures and seminars are held to bring this fascinating field to those interested in developing their talents in front of or behind the camera. Also, the Robinson Film Center does offer the chance to screen new releases, which sometimes include artier films that don't get shown in the commercial multiplexes.
