For adventure within the city, climb to the summit of Council Crest to get a supreme view of Portland and surrounding areas. The 3.3 mile hike boasts an elevation gain of 820-feet, making the climb quite a workout if exercise is what you're looking for. This hike is a great way to see the city and commune with the nature that lives within it.

Explore the world of fine arts through the galleries at the Portland Art Museum. As you walk through, you'll see works in a variety of media, including paintings, sculpture, installations, photography, mixed media and more. Highlights include the Schnitzer Sculpture Court and the Crumpacker Family Library.

Escape the city for some fun on Sauvie Island. The island is large, boasting its own rivers, lakes, and islands, and its plentiful natural beauty has made it a popular destination for outdoor revelers. Sauvie Island has several areas for hiking and biking, and is also a great place to experience birdwatching, hunting, and fishing. On your way to the island be sure to look to the horizon to catch a pristine view of the Cascade Mountain Range, including Mt. Rainer, Mt. St. Helens, and Mt. Jefferson.

Step into one of the city's oldest public places and visit Ankeny Plaza. Within the plaza, you'll find the Skidmore Fountain which has been hailed “as one of the finest fountains in American art,” and is the oldest piece of public art in the city. The plaza also has a number of preserved historic buildings, and Portland's popular Saturday Market event is held here as well.
